October 2nd, 2025
On 2 October 2025, the Ukrainian Students Union signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Hertford Club at the childhood home of Queen Elizabeth I, graciously hosted by the Marquess of Salisbury, Lord Salisbury.
Lord Salisbury’s family has been at the heart of British public life for centuries. With three former Prime Ministers among his ancestors, his personal support carries the weight of a tradition deeply rooted in leadership, diplomacy, and national service. His commitment to Ukraine today links that legacy to our country’s future, reminding us that solidarity between nations is built not only in parliaments but also in communities and friendships.
The setting of Hatfield House made this moment even more symbolic. It was here, in its gardens, that Elizabeth I first learned she would become Queen, marking the dawn of a new era for Britain. For Ukraine, gathering here to sign this Memorandum signifies resilience, renewal, and the hope of a new chapter in our shared European future.

The signing builds on the recently ratified 100-Year UK–Ukraine Partnership Agreement, proving that our nations are connected not only through government policy, but through people, culture, and civic life.
For the Ukrainian student community, it means new opportunities to collaborate, lead, and connect with British institutions. For the Hertford Club and its members, it means opening their historic traditions to a new generation of Ukrainians who carry with them resilience, vision, and the determination to rebuild.
Together with Lord Salisbury’s support and the shared commitment of our communities, this partnership is a pledge to deepen the bonds between Ukraine and the United Kingdom for generations to come.

The USU also warmly thanks Fincord Management Group, who attended with their esteemed delegation. Fincord’s ongoing work with the Science Park at Kyiv Polytechnic Institute is a model of how academic, technological, and business cooperation can thrive between Ukraine and its partners abroad.
