Established in August 2024 as a result of a growing number of Ukrainians entering the university and realising the need for collaboration in representing Ukraine at the University of Hull. There are currently 6 of us. We mostly organise informational events aimed at sharing Ukrainian culture as well as events to draw attention to the current War. Those include putting up posters and organising speeches/local conferences. We also have activities which allow our members to relax and get to know each other-generally known as (non-drinking) socials. We got in contact with the USU from early on (even before our official registration), but formally joined in November 2024. We participated in several of their informational activities and even suggested one of them.
The University of Hull (while ranked 73 out of 166 universities in the UK which is not bad) offers lots of places in clearing every year. So, if you want to get into a university but you thought about it after the UCAS deadline or your other options did not work out, the University of Hull can still take you. 2 of our committee members got in this way. Our university focuses not on attracting the students with the highest grades-buton actually teaching the students it attracts. Also, our university is a twin (official partnership) with Mariupol State University. This means the Ukrainian flag flies on the University of Hull's main flagpole most of the time. It is heartwarming for any Ukrainian.
